Vancouver, BC (June 25, 2024) – The Credit Union Foundation of BC (CUFBC) is pleased to announce that Bill Corbett was re-appointed board President during a June meeting of the Foundation’s board of trustees.
Bill Corbett is the Chief Executive Officer at Stabilization Central. Bill draws on more than 30 years of experience in financial services, including 18 in the BC credit union system. Prior to joining Stabilization Central, Bill was the Vice President, Finance at Central 1 Credit Union and he spent 12 years at Vancity Savings Credit Union in various roles including Strategy, Finance, and Retail and Business Banking. He also has an extensive insurance background, having worked at the Insurance Corporation of BC and several other insurers. Bill has expertise in credit union leadership, governance and best practices, as well as leveraging collaboration and partnerships to develop best practices.
In addition to his continued role as CUFBC President, Bill serves as Vice Chair of the Credit Union Pension & Benefits Trust and Vice-Chair of the BC Centre for Ability. In giving his time in these roles, Bill is passionate about helping to foster a future for the credit union system and support the individuals and communities that they serve.
In his time with the CUFBC, Bill has led the board through an ambitious strategic planning process, establishing a new vision and mission for the Foundation centred on creating equitable access to post-secondary education and creating holistic supports for students.
“It is a privilege to continue to lead the CUFBC at a time when students need us more than ever, and when credit unions are rapidly evolving to meet their communities’ needs”, Bill says. “We envision a future where everyone is able to reach their full potential, fostering a stronger social, economic and environmental future for all. I’m excited to do this work along with a great team of trustees.”
“Bill returning as board President will help our work immeasurably in collaborating with the credit union system to support those pursuing further education and training”, says Nicole Eich, CUFBC Program Manager. “His wealth of experience and dedication to giving back have already strengthened the foundation as we work towards building resilient and caring communities.”
